Frame scaffolding is widely used because it is simple, economical and quick to assemble. However, project teams should not assume that all frames, braces and platforms are automatically interchangeable. Dimensions and connection geometry should be confirmed before supply, rental or site assembly.

01Common frame heights

In the Vietnamese market, steel scaffold frames are commonly supplied in several nominal heights, including approximately 0.9 m, 1.2 m, 1.5 m and 1.7 m. Exact dimensions, tube size and wall thickness can vary by manufacturer or project specification.

02Frame width and bay length

Frame width and the selected cross-brace length determine the working bay geometry. When replacement components are mixed from different batches or suppliers, the brace-hole position and effective bay length should be checked before mobilization.

03Platforms

Steel platforms must fit the intended frame spacing and support arrangement. Length, width, hook geometry and anti-slip surface are more important than a catalog name alone.

04Cross braces

Cross braces stabilize adjacent frames and establish the bay spacing. A brace that is too short, too long or connected to a mismatched hole position can distort the scaffold or prevent correct assembly.

05Base support

Base plates or adjustable jacks should provide a stable interface with the supporting surface. Uneven ground should not be corrected by unstable packing or makeshift supports.

06Weight is not a complete quality measure

Component weight can be useful for comparing products, but it does not by itself prove compliance or structural performance. Tube dimensions, material, weld quality, geometry, condition and the complete scaffold arrangement must also be considered.

07Procurement checklist

  • confirm frame height and width;
  • confirm main tube outside diameter and wall thickness;
  • confirm brace length and connection-hole geometry;
  • confirm platform dimensions and hooks;
  • confirm finish and corrosion-protection requirements;
  • confirm compatibility with existing stock;
  • confirm the project acceptance and inspection requirements.
